Halloween Cameo Caper 2012 Central Hub
... not that there's anything to show on it, but I just decided to set the Hub up ahead of time this year.
The Halloween Cameo Caper 2012 Central Hub
The layout is pretty basic, I'll try to fit it to match the theme (as every year) once we've settled on that one...
Also, you might have noticed that I've added PW-advertising to this and most of the previous Capers. If anyone has a problem with this, let me know.

Re: Halloween Cameo Caper 2012 Central Hub
I was given this suggestions early on which I would like to share with the participants in the Caper.
The suggestion goes on setting up a webcomic-account (with a host like CG, DD, ComicFury etc.) through which to, along with the Hub, post the various contributions as they go up, off course with hotlinks back to their original placement/sites.
This should help keeping things together and allow readers to keep up with the FULL Caper...
How does this idea sound?

Sounds great.
Of course, I also hope people can make sense of the Caper, too. The pages I've archived on my computer of the previous Capers are often more jumbled than the Crossover Wars (which I've actually mostly organized rather well--I've just been focusing on other things, like my own crossover project, instead of trying to get the order that I put them in posted on the board, like I said I would).

Re: Halloween Cameo Caper 2012 Central Hub
Okay, Ave caught me completely off guard with her sudden start on the Caper, so I had to make haste and get the Hub together... so here you go
DO link back to it as much as you can so there will always be a place to refer to for the full run of the Caper!
... and as always I apologize for the primitive setup of the site, I promise to work a bit more on it along the way, but I'm not artist, no programmer and hardly have the time to learn... suggestions are welcome though
Also, since the few who've commented have ben "in" for the creation of a Caper-Webcomic, that will be the next thing I will look into (hopefully catching up very quickly). If nobody else have anything to add on the matter, I'll make a decision and get the trial site set up asap!
Welcome to the Caper!

Re: Halloween Cameo Caper 2012 Central Hub
The page looks the same to me. Did you forget to publish the changes, or something along those lines?
And of course I was the first to post. You saw how early I signed up. Actually, I was wondering who would be the first to post, since Reinder does have an idea that I was assuming was going to get him posting at the beginning of this month. Oh well, at least I know I've got a full two months to do this thing (and maybe soon I can get involved in good storylines to propel me through this--I really only have a solid idea for Tempore's involvement, which is funny, because he's the only one of my protagonists involved to have not been given an invitation).

Hey, whadda you know? One week in and I seem to be able to keep up with the hub
Now you forced me to get my things together... which actually is not that bad a thing
Hmm... try to hit refresh or empty your cache, it works okay from here?KarabearComics wrote:The page looks the same to me. Did you forget to publish the changes, or something along those lines?
Oh yes, you were one of the first "gatecrashers" to this year's Caper, but I had not expected you to KEEP that pace!KarabearComics wrote: And of course I was the first to post. Yeah, well... life and work are making it very difficult for me to commit to any schedule. I hope this weekend I'll be able to crank out some pages.

Re: Halloween Cameo Caper 2012 Central Hub
The website for Abúi's Travels is now live and will kick off with the guest series I did for The Bare-Pit six years ago. After that, the Cameo Caper sequence will start.
There's an updated portrait of Abúi on My DeviantArt. Unlike the older model sheets from 2007 for the Crossover Wars, this one wasn't made with ease of drawing in mind, but Rona and I did make one concession in the colouring: Abúi's body tattoos are now fainter than her arm tattoos so people can fudge those more easily.

Re: Halloween Cameo Caper 2012 Central Hub
Okay, the Central Webcomic Hub for the Caper has now been made and set!
I chose Comicfury because I, after having gotten a good look at it, found their update-system easy to work with and fitting for the task at hand which probably will involved a lot of changing and rearranging along the way.
Also, since most of the participants are residents of Drunk Duck, this will help spread the event around and hopefully generate som due traffic back.
Doing a Webcomic for the Caper is a trial at first, now we will see how it works out.
DO feel free to link back to both the Central Comic and the Central Hub as you enter the Caper
Also, suggestions and artistic improvements (other than mine) for the sites will be appreciated

Re: Halloween Cameo Caper 2012 Central Hub
I realize I haven't linked back on my pages, and there's a simple reason for that: I'm already linking to my IndieGoGo campaign, and Drunk Duck as it currently stands hates multple links. I tried linking (after everything else I typed in my author comments) and lost everything I had typed after my IndieGoGo link. Well, not lost, but it didn't display and only would display when I removed the second link. I keep saying I should write a comment with the information, but it's easy to forget when you put it off.

Re: Halloween Cameo Caper 2012 Central Hub
I'd switch, but they also have some great things, like a far better uploader than Comic Genesis (which I have used before) and better allowed page dimensions than Smack Jeeves. Another thing they have than Comic Genesis is the comments and forum, neither of which is provided all that well by Comic Genesis. Sadly, they used to have a homepage option that could be like Smack Jeeves uses, but that's gone now (with the "home page" option meaning the comic will always open to the first page--which is annoying for people who want to read the latest page).

And with my first comic http://www.drunkduck.com/The_KAMics/5407251/
I've broken the hub page's chronology
No idea when my second page will be up, probably October.

And off course DD decides to go down for most of the day (at least on my end?), preventing me from getting the strips for updating of the Hub's...

Re: Halloween Cameo Caper 2012 Central Hub
Okay, as of today 11th of September, both Hubs should now be fully updated again.
I did try something at the Webcomic Hub, by linking both the two of Ave's comics, which got "broken up" by KAM's update, together in the Author Notes so that storyline could be followed in its fullest if one wanted to do so.
How does that work?

Re: Halloween Cameo Caper 2012 Central Hub
Wouldn't it make more sense to place my comic first as it happens before Dalen is murdered and the call goes out to Karabear's characters?
What's the point of having the comics on their own site if you can't manipulate them into internal chronological order?

It's actually one of the points, sometimes it just takes someone to point them outKAMics wrote: What's the point of having the comics on their own site if you can't manipulate them into internal chronological order?
What do people think?
