Division/bell RSVP

Hell, we've already got a trans-dimensional portal just sitting around... might as well use it for something fun.

Not sure who all will be there yet, but I imagine that you can go ahead and pencil in Alex and Gray for an appearance. Find out more about 'em at http://www.OminousCow.com (the "Division/bell" section.)

Might even be willing to throw the Penguin in the mix for a cameo as well (though it'd be best if it was brief, like a background cameo.)

This only proves that it allways pays to have a portal stored away for emergencies... like parties! :P

Thanks for joining in feyd, this is going to be a swell party! :D

Thanks for letting me join!

I wanted to do some sort of legit crossover thing with D/b even when it was simply "Division Bell" and sucked more than it does now. *laughs*

Just in case anyone's noticed Division/bell's apparent lack of updates... the comic's not dead, so feel free to use the D/b characters for the crossover. Life's happened in a big way, and as soon as I can get all of the various pieces back together I'm going to get the comic to the point that it needs to be for Shelterville.

Um... okay...

Anyway, another update on the status of D/b (sorry for being a "Guest" last time... I thought that I was signed in.)

I've been going through some serious stuff lately, and while it's getting better it's by no means over by a long shot. In part because I'm emotionally worn/beaten down and in part because my computer is currently at my neighbor's house but my printer/scanner isn't, my plans to get caught up with the comic have yet again been delayed.

I'm still planning on being involved in the crossover, as there is only 1 or 2 comics that would come before the crossover point anyway... but those comics might not come for at least another week or two. I'm currently shooting for getting multiple crossover comics drawn, colored, and posted within a short time of each other... I might work on it for a decent portion of the month and then do daily updates toward the end leading up to Halloween.

Should any of this change and the comics not get done, feel free to use Alex and Gray in your strips as background characters, etc. I'd love for them to make the party, even if my life falls apart (more) and I have to miss it. *smiles*

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to show everyone a picture of the two characters I'm using for the crossover (for those who haven't followed the run of Division/bell so far):

Image

Gray Prin~Davor (the elf in the armor) is from another dimension, and has only recently made it to earth. He doesn't know much about earth customs, technology, or the old west, but he is a master swordsman and is quite strong as well. (The "Prin" part of his name isn't actually a name, but a title: the Prin are the warrior class of his world, and are kind of like the Jedi without the Force powers. They do possess limited magical abilities, though... but Gray doesn't use them.) Gray also has a sword, but it isn't shown in this picture... consult Division/bell for a better picture of Gray with his sword.

Alex Morgan (the guy in the trenchcoat) is the president of the fencing club at a university in Murray, Kentucky. He's basically being dragged along on a quest to save Gray's home village, and is pretty much only going because the girl that he liked told him how brave he was for going to help before he had a chance to say he wasn't going.

Their transport to Gray's homeworld was interrupted, and these two were dropped off in Shelterville while their friends were deposited somewhere else. They're looking for the way to re-open the portal, find their friends, and make it to Gray's world in time to save the day.

Just an update:

I've (finally) got everything set up at home to have the internet and such, so I can bring my computer home from my friend/neighbor's house... which means that I'll be able to hook my scanner back up as well! Division/bell will be posting a few new strips to get ready for Shelterville shortly, and I'll be getting one or two pictures up here (the Undertaker and the "group photo") in the next day or two as well (hopefully.)

For purposes of continuity (since he has appeared in the second Shelterville strip for Blade of Toshubi), I'm going to be adding the character Pagan Steve to the D/b roster for Shelterville. He'll likely be doing his own thing for most of the story, so it's not essential that anyone add him in; I just didn't want him to be in the "Blade" strips and then not show up in Shelterville.

I'd also considered having Alex's trenchcoat become damaged or ripped, so as to closer match the jacket he was wearing in "Blade"... but that would be kind of a big change this close to everything, and it would also have devistating effects on Alex ('cuz he loves his trenchcoat.)

A warning or two if you want to use Pagan Steve, though: 1) He's pretty weird. Make sure that you read the D/b strips that have him in them to get a better feel for the character. 2) He's based on Reverend Steve from Mutantcorp.com, a friend of mine from college. Try not to do anything that would be too out-of-character from what has been shown in Division/bell, since I'm sure that Steve wouldn't like his image being portrayed negatively.

Thanks!

K'. Division/bell officially restarted yesterday (Monday), and I've got the last pre-Shelterville strip drawn and partially inked so that I can finish it and post it tonight. That means that Alex and Gray (and now Pagan Steve) are still on-track to crash the party (and a stagecoach) tomorrow (Wednesday, probably in the evening/night.)

If nothing else, doing daily updates between now and Halloween will help to fill in some of the updates I've missed during my down-time... 9 strips is a lot for a comic that's supposed to update weekly! *laughs*

*nearly falls over laughing*

That's great. Absolutely wonderful.

The best part is that Alex (in the comic that I'm finishing up and will be posting here in an hour or so) only went on the trip through the portal that ended up in Shelterville because he was trying to impress a girl. *laughs*

I think that after the guys are in Shelterville, I'm going to have to make some reference to Alex almost getting shot... *laughs*

The Division/bell for the 25th is up (finally), and you can check it out at http://ominouscow.com/division/div027.htm (or just go directly to http://www.ominouscow.com and view it from there, where it's still in it's frames. Hogan, you can link directly to the comics by day, instead of to the main page.)

It's kind of a rough way to get to Shelterville, but at least it explains what the big explosion was that everyone was hearing. And it let KAM's Wild West version of the Truckers be used! (...and abused.)

Why yes, yes it is.

I shall have to have a little talk with the monkeys that do my typing for the strips. I shall guide them to do better, and correct that mistake.

Luckily, I have a handy cricket-bat of guidance.

The Division/bell for the 26th is up. No cameos in this one, but it does set up the "Missing Pendant/Time Bubble" plotline. And it gets the guys headed toward town, where there will be cameos galore.

I've been feeling a little under the weather, which is why I'm getting my strips up so late in the day/early in the morning (it's a little after 3 AM here); I'm going to try and gradually shift that time to earlier in the day, but since I'm having to draw a new strip every day instead of the one per week that I would normally be doing it takes a little bit o' time. I'm definitely going to try and have the strip for Halloween up early, though. (Key word there, of course, is "try".)

And your post reminds me... I need to try and draw that motorcycle before I actually do tomorrow's strip, too. Especially since it's the thing that kind of shows Alex that he and Pagan Steve aren't the only ones from modern times in Shelterville...
