Since this strip, Zworgue, Grossebrute and Forma have started on what may be a longer trip through the webcomics of yesterdays...

The first webcomic visited was Sinfest (which somebody recognized), but which webcomic did they hit on THIS strip?

I had no idea, and I had to find out only with the following hints from Phil:

This time, I'll let you guess! Remember the previous date and the hint of two overweight humanoid holding metal things. There is even a big hint in the lower right corner!

I tried reading that back when it was announced that T. Campbell was going to be the writer for Cool Cat Studio. The first story was... okayyyy... and each story got progressively worse. Ugh!

So the one doesn't have either a cape or a mouth? Ti-Phil should have mentioned the cape first, then mentioned the lack of a mouth to avoid confusion.

Although that does remind me of an old comic called Riboflavin.

I had Funny Farm (now moved and rebooted) and its villain PC in mind... though I've been confirmed that this guess was wrong...

... and I had It's Walky! pegged at this strip, though I admit to believing that the one in the cape and without mouth was... The Cheese!

Obviously College Roomies From Hell!!!, but the greyscale to color is wrong for the 2000 time period. The strips were in color then, it was only later when, in an effort to reduce bandwidth, that she changed some color strips to greyscale so the file sizes wouldn't be so big.
