No power! Say it aint so!
they turned off our power friday it stinks, but we got a trickle coming in through a 300+ foot extension cord from our neighbor for our fridge and sometimes my net so I can hope for donations to help ease the cost of getting it back on. it will cost $210 to get it back on, and we got 1 $20 donation so we currently only need 190. Unless we suddenly get money then we will be without power until thursday I thought I could touch bases with the forum here, i doubt if anyone even goes here any more

I'm sorry to hear about your perils Xadie, being without electricity AND Internet, even less a computer, sounds like one of the First Circle of Hell... I'll see if I can chime in somehow...
Regarding donation, then I think the math goes to tell that you can expect donations from 1 in 1000 visitors, even when especially asked for, which means you have to have a well-established readership if you shall be able to count on any revenue, however small it can be. A need for larger donations for special occasions usually require a major continuing readership which again is fed by regular updates...
The entire Dragonboard burst some 10-15 different visitors daily, and most only tends to visit forums that shows some activity, so I guess that count as one explanation with regard to activity...
I've had the donation button up on the Archive (more as an experiment) for years and so far all it have brought in is dust!
... then again, I think the Archive accounts for some 20 daily visitors, so it might stand to reason...
Hope you'll make it until Thursday!

Re: No power! Say it aint so!
well, it was worth a shot, and i know it requires some serious readerbase, which I sadly lack but actually I have gotten a couple minor donations, and people on the daz site actually donated vouchers to help out so at least they thought of me, and making sure that I get some things from there that I need for my comic. I was working hard on the comic, learning how to use my new digital toys that i bought during this huge sale over there, that will help breath life into IoX. Once everything blows over then there is a really good chance that I can get back to updating. or at least finish the beginning and make it 3d so people can actually see I am working. I have a bunch of things planned, but it all hinges on having power! my netbook rigged to the modem, rigged into the extension cord just wont do. Bored as heck now.
Got to finish a few things while i am online, bye and thanks hogan
