2011 Calender for Relay For Life

Hello All!

I'm posting this here because its a project tied up with Ron's commitment to Relay of Life of the American Cander Society.

Its a project close to Ron's heart, and in many ways something I want to support too as I've lost all to many people to cancer over they years...

I approached Ron to talk about what could be done to support the society more, and the idea came about on creating a Calender for sale, a Calender featuring 12 pages by various webcomic artists, leading the buyer through the circle of the years during the various months, a Calender where any and all possible earnings will go directly to Relay of Life..

Now, its not to be said if there ever will BE sale, not even if we can get it up, but its worth trying and its a for a good cause, so lets give it a try... and by try I want to ask out if there are any who would like to be a part of the project, dedicating one piece of a superb artwork to a page in the calender?

We need 12 people (11 since Ron already has signed up) to sign up, and when/if the goal is reached, we will sort the various months between those who joined up for the project, as well as all the other details necessary for such a project...

Remember, its for a good cause

Hi I am back on dry land for awhile. Thank you Riley McCool you are awesome. Riley kept me informed of all the stuff going on and has helped me plot stuff out beyond my retirement date. Thank You Hogan for figuring out this incredible idea. A couple of thoughts Sir wielder of the axe.
I don't know if we have time to publish a 2011 calender in time. Organizing webcomic makers is akin to herding cats over a dial up connection underwater. You know this better than all of us! My master Chief once told me to never present a problem to him unless I had a solution to go with it. For my old Master Chief here goes.
What about an 18 month calender starting 2011 July.
Advantages?
1.We have more time.
2. The Calenders will be ready for comic conventions.
Disadvantages?
1. 18 cats to find and herd vice 12
2. probably more expensive to produce.

I want this to happen! More important my wife wants me to make it happen! And I am not to proud to admit that that woman has me tightly wrapped around her finger. I would like to see WebComic characters doing
Cancer related things. My wife wants me to recreate the Relay for Life walk I did awhile back where Wheels and co. are walking with Donna an I. I want to do this up much better but here are examples of stuff I have done in the past about relay. Sorry about picture quality I am not at my normal computer.

This is a great idea! Count me in. Ron has suggested making this an 18 month calendar for some very good reasons (read his post above). My suggestion is to contact Kablam. They are a service that prints comic books on demand. Perhaps they would be interested in this project, too. They have booths at the major comicons, and this would be a great way to get more exposure for the calendar.

My sister-in-law is a breast cancer survivor, and my mother-in-law died of cancer, so this is a project I am personally affected by. Come on, everybody. Let's make this happen.

Hmm... I would say the best would still be a Full Year Calender, but I agree with Ron that it might be a tight fit to get it together and out to the masses before the new year hits us like a sledge hammer between the eyes... blame me, I should have taken this up sooner...

However, the second best would be a calender that starts with July 2011, and its true it will give us more time as well as the opportunity to hit some cons (which Cons du we have coming up for the second quarter of 2011?) ... if we get a chance to use this option that is.
The question would then be whether we shall settle on a more specialized 18 month calender or the standard 12 months, covering a full "semester" (at least around here), perhaps talking to those at college, Uni etc.?

how big... size ? shape square or rectangular ? need to know I don't want to have to crop or make it so small that it pixels out when re sized.. if i make it huge text then sometimes goes odd when resized... to small..

I don't think we will be able to settle on a size before we know where we want the calender made... difference standards and such...
Also, we need to settle for whether we want to do a 12 or 18 month calender too, I guess it also plays in...

i vote for the 18 month calender to start. we should easily be able to line up 18 artists for it. a project like this should be easy enough to rally for. let me know if you want me to start pimping the concept around the net

I will keep my vote on the 12 month calender, also beacuse if we DO get an artists surplus, there are the possibilities of two different editions... still, 5 spots taken, 7 spots still open... feel free to recommend anyone you think can contribute with something that would get the readers to buy

the most economic way will be printing at last 250 copies at a time any thing less you can not use wholesale printers and the price per unit climbs drastically

I can, but do we need to do it? So far we can keep the discussion in one thread, and since its a project of Rons (with lack of Ron by obvious reasons) it sounds fitting for it to be in his forum...?
