Xade's Dad has moved on

Post by Xade »

He has went on to the next life peacefully and without regrets thanks for praying for him

I havent had much time recently, and the forum has been down thanks to immature little hacker kids wanting to ruin a good thing. Enough of that, I can only spare 10 mins.

My dad, Leroy Shonce Sr of Ohio, needs all the prayer he can get. His liver quit on him after a life of drinking and was admitted in the hospital on the 13th of October. He was doing fine, resolved to quit drinking and smoking because of his suddenly failing health. On the 19th my Mom and I arrived to visit with him before he had an operation to drain all the collected fluid in his abdominal cavity to find that the liver failed completely and his body had shut down. All the doctors on the floor was crammed into his room, working hard to save him. Our world crashed to a halt as we waited in terror for news. Finally, after the longest 20 minutes in my entire life one came in and said they managed to restart his body. That made us wonder how long his brain went without oxygen. The doctor asked us if we wanted aggressive treatment and told us there was a chance that he was brain dead. We said yes, and that we were willing to accept the risk that he would never be himself.

Long story short, he awoke on Mom's birthday (20th) with full brain functions and is showing slow but steady signs of improvement. The emergency trach replacement with a proper one went well, his body has almost purged the water, and the lung that collapsed during cpr thanks to a weak rib breaking is healing pretty well. However, theres still a long hard road to recovery ahead of us but we will take it together as a family. We need all the prayer we can get, and money for our part of the hospital bills wouldnt hurt either but we're more worried about Dad's health at the moment than money. Money can wait, Dad can't, so please pray for him to make a full recovery.

Thanks everyone, and God Bless.

When real life, especially where family is concerned, comes calling in earnest, all other things must come second.. I understand this, and I'm quite sure friends and readers alike do the same.

All hope and prayers go to your dad, you and the rest of the family.

update, Dad shows steady signs of improvement so theyre transferring him Regency Health Center in Ravenna Ohio, Robinson memorial hospital where he can get the personalized care he needs. Money will be even tighter, when it comes to gas but I'm not too worried, the Lord will provide. He got us this far, there's no backing out now. Anyhow, I thought I would let everyone here know. Thanks for prayers and understanding.

Dad does not like regency, I think we're going to try and get him transfered to youngstown, which is much closer to us than ravenna. I'll explain more later, I must go to work

without internet its hard to update everything. I forgot about this until I thought to check today. Dad is doing better. he is jut now starting speech therapy, and has been standing with assistance. they tapped his belly, and got 6 liters (yeah its not typo SIX O_O) of liquid out of it. Although it looks like he might be filling up again, but that could just be my paranoia. Anyhow, he is slowly improving, but the wallet is still shrinking, but we'll manage the 6 bucks a day to visit him somehow. I gotta go, I'll update this later, if I find the time, im before my route atm so see you all soon
