Re: Crossover Wars in "Wikis"
IIRC a Sixth Ranger can be added to a band of 5.
That being said I posted the original draft of the Five Bad Band & completely forgot about Jason (D'oh!). Someone else remembered & added him.

Yep. The description for Five Bad Band even says, "Note also that Five Bad Bands are more fluid than Five Person Bands, open to more roster changes, and there may not even be five of them, though there are never fewer than four."

Re: Crossover Wars in "Wikis"
I was trying to find a good trope to describe Scale. I came up with two possibles, but I wasn't sure if they really fit her or not. What does anyone else think?

From Plucky Girl:
I'd say "Unchoosen one". Keeps coming back? Check. Unassailable optimism? No.But the Plucky Girl is coming back. That's the bravery part.
The optimistic part is the rest of it. This character exhibits a strong sense of optimism, a kind of sunny, unassailable spirit that differentiates her from the grimness of a determinator.

Why not say both apply to her? However, I find the latter Trope an odd choice for Scale. Surely it was her Destiny to defeat the Editor all along?KAMics wrote:I was trying to find a good trope to describe Scale. Even Plucky Girls can have moments of doubt. And I would say Scale is a fairly optimistic person.AquaDrake wrote:From Plucky Girl:I'd say "Unchoosen one". Keeps coming back? Check. Unassailable optimism? No.But the Plucky Girl is coming back. That's the bravery part.

Re: Crossover Wars in "Wikis"
As I understand TV Tropes version of The Chosen One it applies to someone who is told in the story that Destiny has chosen them to do something.
Scale on the other hand hadn't been "born" when the story started, her creators (in the story) apparently had another story in mind for her (a story that was derailed when they were captured) & her "birth" was a side effect of the Editor reaching into the metaphorical womb and pulling out her bracer into "reality". Afterwards she had to figure out what had happened & what to do next.
No annoying "mentor" to come along & say, "You are destined to draft a huge army & defeat the Editor & his forces!" (Thank goodness! I hate Chosen One stories. 99.9% of them are boring as hell since the author went & spoiled the ending.)
I think it was actually discussed it in the secret forum how... odd... Scale was in comparison to other heroes. She never encountered the Overlords until the end (& I think that was just the Editor. Would the other Overlords even recognize her?) She spent a lot of time going to different comics assembling allies & helping out.
Heck I even lampshaded it in this comic when QLT said, "The only chance of beating them lies with a plucky young girl & an odd assortment of resistance she has encountered, stumbling across dimensions." (Oh, what a ringing endorsement that is.
)
So I think Unchosen One is a better fit since even her creators (in story) didn't know she had been "born" yet.

Good point, though considering how Meta the CWs were, Plot and Prophecy can get a little confused.KAMics wrote:As I understand TV Tropes version of The Chosen One it applies to someone who is told in the story that Destiny has chosen them to do something.

Re: Crossover Wars in "Wikis"
That was one hell of a look into Scale's situation there KAM, good going!
Without having gone through availbale thropes myself, I would say that Plucky Girl might be the most fitting for Scale. She has moments of selfdoubt as well as being depressive at times, but despite this she still fights on, not giving up and not standing down, especially if the lives of friends are at stake...
I do not particular fond of "Chosen Ones" and "Prophecies" in storylines myself. I can, at most, accept the sudden "You were the Chosen One!?" at the end of the story when everything suddenly comes together and what wasn't appearent to the reader until then, suddenly becomes clear... but reading the story all the way and knowing the hero is the Chosen One, or just that there is one, takes something out of the story.
I guess you can't add Unchosen to Scale as she didn't go with or against any destiny, she just did what she had to do, following her own ideals.

Has the secret forum ever been opened for the rest of us to read?
"So my Mom left me a huge heap of molding, rotten, decaying, puss-dripping zombies ... How cool is that?"
"So what is your advice to me?"
"Stop doing stupid crap."

Re: Crossover Wars in "Wikis"
Well, since you can't see it in the board index, Keybounce, I'd say, no.
I was one of the few who voted to open it, but others felt it would give away spoilers for their comics.
Still it has been ten years now...

Re: Crossover Wars in "Wikis"
Considering the number of people who actually visits the forum these days... I'll take it up for consideration
