Hitchhiker's Guide To The Forum Wars: Don't Panic

Post by Jorlem »

This is a listing of the various threads (and comics) that are involved in the Forum Wars, and a brief synopsis of what has occurred in each thread. If/when I have time, I will post more detailed summaries of what happened. If anyone else wants to post summaries as well, please do; I can't remember everything. The links will go to the start of each thread, or in the case of the Wars spreading to a previously existing thread, the link will go to the first relevant post. This will be noted in the entry of the thread.

Invasion Alert!--The first thread, A Fan noticed that the EOU was watching EGS, and warned the bunnies of the possible impending invasion. They began gearing up for war, Ajac became commander and First Among Equals, and there was an incident with the spy Agent Bunny/Death Bunny. A lot more happened in this thread, and it is still going. Two posters, Ti-Phil and Netpoet, who are the artist and writer of the EOU comic respectivly, post in this thread, the Op. Lagomorph threads, and other threads that are not RPs. They usually post in character, Ti-Phil as himself, and Netpoet as the Editor. Ti-Phil aided in the escape of Death Bunny when his role as EOU spy was exposed. Many methods have been implemented to try to stop them from entering, but none have been completely successful. A manifestation of Jstone was able to block the Editor from entering physically, but the Editor continues to observe and communicate through a magical floating sigil. Before this, the Editor entered and exited by using shadows as a gateway, fading in and out of them at will. Scale has visited this thread, as well as the newbie intro thread. Her newbie pack was received here.

Fort Mayhem--The main base of the EGS Defense Force in Mayhem. Established by KylenPhylar (also known as General Kylen), this is where the bunnies in the EGSDF are between missions. There is a library, a cantina, a medical center, weapons development labs, and presumably meeting rooms and many other things. After the successful conclusion of Op. Lagomorph, and the rescue of Littlebeast, a massive party was held in the cantina. While the party was going on, there were a whole host of problem involving a plushie named Ocyard, an avatar of order. Also, several plushie versions of bunnies were created during that time, and were brought to life by Alex Mage. Later during the party, a mission was organized to rescue TMA from the EOU. The bunnies that went on this mission were sent back to a point in time moments after their departure so as not to miss any of the party. Notably, Amon Star and Jorlem did not return through the time warp. Shortly after their return Jason Fellback of the EOU contacted the EGS-DF, with an offer to negotiate. Negotiations were held in Keenfans, and resulted in the capture of several bunnies and TMA cast members when Fellback attacked them. (It was later learned, in an EOU comic, that the negotiations were a ploy to capture Squato. This is OOC knowledge). Ajac vowed to retaliate, and created the Grand Army (Think of it as the EGS-Attack Force, as opposed to the EGS-Defense Force) to rescue those captured. –Time Lapse– After the Grand Army departed, it was revealed that ChibiVOR was a traitor when he attacked and destroyed MNCAN. Wolfius struck back, and succeeded in destroying the Nail of Justice in orbit around Mayhem, but was forced to retreat when ChibiVOR’s allies, a splinter of the Kitten Collective arrived. Kum-El was dispatched by Ajac to negotiate an alliance with another splinter of the collective. Negotiations are ongoing.

Defense force recruiting - Anya vs Squata--Anya fought Squata at the Mall, in an attempt to recruit Squata into the Defense Force. The battle ended in a tie, with Squata incapacitating Anya with catnip. Squata agreed to join, but only when she would be needed. (Squata was later involved in the space battle rescue mission, in the comics.)

Operation Lagomorph, EGS Front--The Forum Wars comics on the EGS side are in this thread, along with discussion about them. To see the comics in order with the Boardies' comics, see here, or here. Operation Lagomorph reached a successful conclusion on July 4th, 2007.

Operation Lagomorph, CRfH Front--Same as the other Op. Lagomorph thread, but on the Board side. Operation Lagomorph reached a successful conclusion on July 4th, 2007.

Mayhem - The front lines.(Outside the Mall)--The first major battle of the Forum Wars. The EOU opened several DRACO portals near the mall where Anya and Squata had fought earlier, and sent in an army of droids to attack the forum as a diversion so the Head Alien could kidnap the Defense Force's leaders without interference. Sub-Commander Amon Star opened rifts to the battlefield, and the bunnies came pouring through to defend Mayhem. The droids were eventually fought off, but not before A Fan launched a massive attack, with power drawn from nearly every dimension imaginable, on one of the DRACO portals. This resulted in an interdimensional rift which spewed out ancient seawater, a sort of flying piranha fish, and an ancient god, among other things. The rift was eventually sealed into a small crystal by A Fan, Hidden Sanity, and Jorlem. (The crystal is currently possessed by Amon Star.)

The Park/The crater formerly known as the park--The EOU attempted to open a second front to the battle by opening a DRACO portal at the park, and sending through droids and two supervillians from Evil Inc. Bunnies went to defend the park, and things were going well, until the Hammer o' Justice decided to drop an asteroid onto the park. The Bunnies quickly vacated the area, and the asteroid turned it into a massive crater, destroying any enemies that still remained. (Incidentally, AntiDraco's actions when he found out about the asteroid reminded me of this short story.)

Space Battle / Rescue Mission--In the comics, the leaders of the EGSDF were kidnapped, and several Fanworks were captured by the Head Alien. The EGSDF launched a rescue mission to save the leaders and recapture the stolen Fanworks, which had been taken to the universe of Schlock Mercenary. The leaders were rescued, and have returned to Mayhem. (See the Op. Lagomorph comics and the Fort Mayhem thread for this. Also, Ajac had an interview with MNCANon the subject.)

Find Them!--An RP currently only tangentially related to the Wars, it chronicles the Angelic Gopher's search for several of their enemy's (The Demonic Gophers) Dreadnoughts, which the Demonic Gophers brought over to Mayhem to assist the EGSDF. (It has gotten slightly off track, however. The battle has wrapped up now, so hopefully it should start heading in the right direction again.)
EGS-DF Politics. (Seems to have died) wrote:Fate of the Aliens: 3 Day Vote!--A vote and discussion over what to do with the aliens that surrendered in the Space Battle thread. Options were to imprison them, put them in stasis until the end of the war, or to kill them. There was a good deal of debate, and eventually Ajac came to a decision and stated:
Ajac wrote:Those who surrendered DIRECTLY TO EGSDF PERSONEL will be kept in stasis, and the rest are FLEET's jurisdiction and their problem.
Burning Manor Acts--Ajac proposed five acts, called The Burning Manor Acts, in order to limit his power, and keep him from becoming corrupt. There has been a large amount of debate about these Acts, with some bunnies proposing amendments, and others questioning the need for the Acts altogether, proposing a simpler, case by case bapping on the head for leaders that act out of line or are abusing their power. The vote has ended, in favor of ratifying the Acts.

The General Assembly of Bunnies-- A General Assembly was convened to determine what amendments and further acts should be made or added to the Burning Manor Acts. Several ideas have been proposed so far, and Squato has drafted a constitution. VOR also wrote up a set of Articles of War, which are guidelines for the EGS-DF. Squato's constitution is currently being edited for length.
EGS Defense Force Wiki--The EGSDF area on the Mayhem Wiki. It has a list of Defense Force members, details about the Defense Force, and other miscellaneous information. It is not always up to date, so be aware that the situation might have changed. There is also a Fort Mayhem area on the wiki here.

Mission to Too Many Authors--Ajac and Littlebeast (TMA's author) had been speaking about the possibility of sending some EGS-DF members to assist the comic's cst in retaking their home comic from the EOU. Littlebeast initially said no, but when a droid entered the author area of the comic and attacked him, he was able to send out a message for help before he was rendered unconscious. Ajac organized a new unit of the EGS-DF, the Bunny Berets, to send on this mission. Bunny involvement in the comic began here.

KeenFans--The KeenFans comic. Drawn (mainly) by Killerfish, is continuing what started in Op. Lagomorph. (The link given is to the beginning of involvement in the Wars.) There is also the KeenFans thread, in which comments can be made, and discussions had, about the comic.
Wotch Threads wrote:Wotch Defense Forces--A specially created area on the Wotch forums for all Forum War related content to go. It is now operational, and contains the other Wotch Forum Wars threads.
These threads lost due to the Wotch forum crash wrote:A Quick Warning--The Wotch equivalent to "Invasion Alert". The Wotchers might be getting involved in the defense of The Wotch, should that become necessary, and become a part of the Bunny-Boardie alliance. I say might because the last post to that thread was on June 16, so it might have stalled.
Additionally, in thisWotch filler strip Anne, the author, turned into a naga and attacked Robin, the Colorist.

Home Front: WOTCH!--The Wotchers' equivalent to the Op. Lagomorph threads, until some issues with the forums are resolved and the thread is moved to the correct location. Here we go again. :D
Wotch Under Attack--Created to replace the threads lost in the forum crash, this thread seems to be part RP, part OOC discussion.
These threads are no longer canon wrote:Negotiations--The Wotchers are here! The Wotchers entered Mayhem to negotiate the return of Azalea and their Squato, but the negotiations quickly devolved into a moderately confusing fight scene. The fight has since ended, and hopefully the talks can resume. The negotiations have moved to Ky's Interdimensional Bar.

Ky's Interdimensional Bar--The negotiations have moved here, and hopefully the talks will soon commence. The link goes to the first related post in the thread.
MNCAN--The Mayhem News and Current Affairs Network. It has made several reports on the Wars, among other things, and had a New Mayhem Affiliate, which seems to have gone at least temporarily off the air, possibly because of New Mayhem's lockdown. Later MNCAN was bought out by El Cheapo Industries, ChibiVOR's company. ChibiVOR then attacked the MNCAN building with a nuclear weapon, destroying it utterly.

The Forum Wars--All of the comics of the Forum Wars, in order and on their own site. Three cheers for Ankhareon!
Intrusions to Mayhem RPs wrote:MKRP--EOU droids passed through here on their way to the War Thread.

War Threads--EOU droids entered the thread's dimension, and were quickly destroyed by what the Editor called "luck". They are gone for now, but will surely return.

Villains RP—A Nail O’ Justice entered into this RP, and ChibiVOR contacted Mordred, the Antichrist, through their mutual father, the Lord of Darkness that the Boardies call Stanny, and hired him as his lawyer in his suit against the EGS Defense Force.
ChibiTimeWar wrote:Chibi Gag Reel: ChibiTimeWar--ChibiVOR has betrayed us, and attacked MNCAN! Comics 1-7 are at the link in the title, comic 9 is the attack on MNCAN, and comic ten is back in the Chibi Gag Reel thread here. Comic 8, showing the origin of one of their armies, is here. The comics are all collected on VOR's deviantART page, but it is recommended that you enter "chibitimewar" into the Keenspot Forum's search engine, so the comics can be read in context.

ChibiTimeWar: The Forum Fic--A thread started by VOR for the telling of the story of the ChibiTimeWar. It is intended to replace the comic, as VOR does not have enough free time to draw the comic as originally intended.
Operation:Hisarlik--The RP for the joint Bunny-Boardie-Wotcher attack on the EOU headquarters.
Threads With Minor Involvement wrote:EGS Store Reborn!--Kevin from TMA landed here, after being tossed out of the EOU base by the Editor and the randomized DRACO.

Word Association--When Death Bunny returned to rescue Ti-Phil, who had forgotten to escape after one of his posts, he teleported to here, and used one of the beacons he had left previously to return to the EOU base, or to somewhere else from which he could return.

Word Chain--ChroniclerC homed in on and retrieved one of Death Bunny's beacons from here, and took it to the Fort for analysis.

Waffle House #4741 RP--Alex Mage, JK(Jorlem Katan) and Zahav landed in this thread after being thrown out of the EOU base at the end of Operation Hisarlik. I have left out the second section of this thread's title, as it changes from time to time.
Fesworks' Forum Wars wrote:Fesworks went to forums for help against the Overlords, and this is the result.

The Webcomic List Forum Jam: The Infinite Canvas--The EOU attacked The Infinite Canvas, a bar for webcomic artists. Fesworks managed to escape, but how will the other artists fare? The droids have activated "Read_Only Mode, rendering themselves immune to the artists' artistry based powers. (The comic, which is jointly drawn bymany artists, is collected herefor easier reading.)

The Fur Brigade--Fesworks went here for support against the Overlords, and he got it. the comics generated by this forum are collected here, for easier reading.

If I've made any mistakes, please tell me, and I'll try to correct them. Also, please feel free to type up more detailed summaries if you feel so inclined. (Wow, that took a while to type. :) )

This is a copy of my guide to the Forum Wars from Jstone's forum. (Link) I thought that it would be appropriate to have a copy of it here as well. (I got the idea in part from the Crossover Archive, so...) I'll still be updating it from time to time, but I will be updating the one on Jstone's forum more frequently, as most of the updates will be concerning the Chibi Time War. I also mean to re-organize this sometime, to make it easier to follow, but I haven't really had the time.

If anyone spots any errors, or catches something that I missed, please tell me so I can fix them. Thank you.

I can add to the info regarding the Chibi Time War: The Forum Fic. Basically, it is to replace the comic because VOR doesn't have the time to do it in that Format. It definitely is NOT an RP, however, it may be influenced by the RP better bits. The RP will continue in all relevant Threads.

EDIT: You also forgot Teleros Fireheart's & Jenny Collins involvement in closing the rift.

Amon: I've corrected the Forum Fic thing. Thanks. As for the sealing the rift part, I don't recall those two actually being involved in sealing it. Jorlem and HS stabilized it, Jorlem with the Stabilizer, and HS with his magic, and A Fan went into the thing and sealed it into the crystal. Teleros and Jenny might have been fighting the rift, but I don't remember them being involved in the actual sealing procedure. If they were, tell me and I'll add them, but I really don't remember them. Sorry.

Hogan: :D
Sure! Could you just stick my name somewhere nearby? It could be upside down, sideways, in tiny font, or whatever. Glad you liked it. :)

Actually, I was mistaken. Fireheart & Jenny closed the secondary rift, along with A Fan & Mal, or the reality-tear as I called it. However, that was just one of many things that happened, so you probably missed it.

They're in there. Look under "Intrusions to Mayhem RPs". I've been considering the possibility of combining that section with the threads with minor involvement section, but haven't reached a decision yet. I really need to drop this into Word and reorganize it. If only I had more free time.
*Sigh.*

Yea, I'm sorry for all of my unfinished parts... Fur Brigade especially. I hope to fully complete that one in the next few months. Toren of TMOE was a great help (even thought I never fully uploaded them to the website.) and basically was the only one that came through the most in that idea. I blame myself for messing the rest of it up, but we did RP things out in the FA forum at the very least.

Oh god, such a necro, but this needs saying:

I had to take down that old site, so you can no longer access the HHGTTFW at my (Jstone's) forums. I was hosting it myself, literally, and it has become impractical for me to maintain a 24/7 webserver in my house. I may transfer a copy onto my blog, but that will be a future endeavor.

Finally... I have a copy of the guide up on my blog. I've actually put some effort into it: I've cleaned up the formatting and rearranged some aspects in order to (hopefully) make the whole thing easier to comprehend.

Another necropost...

Well, Vox shut down completely, so that version of the Forum Wars guide was lost.

Fortunately, I've managed to reconstruct it from a Google Cache, and have made some further formatting corrections. I present you with The Guide 2.0

It's now hosted on a (hopefully) more stable service, and even has its own page. I hope my formatting updates have made the thing a little more navigable.

In this case its not necro, more... like a Resurrection :)

Thanks for working to save this informative bit of Warhistory DBE

If you want we can work on adding a mirro on this straight to the CW Central Hub? I believe future surveyers of the Wars will find it quite an interesting read/compedia...? :)

I've got a file of the thing with some generic HTML formatting (including the header tags, lists, blockquotes, etc.) Not a full page, mind you - I didn't include any header info or stylesheets, since my blog provides that - but the proper markup is all there. I can send this to you if you'd like, or I can whip up a fully-functional webpage, including CSS formatting, if you'd prefer.
