I think the forums sent several exterminators, but the Editor was unhappy with their work & sent them away. 8)

Who said he did/will?

No one said the Editor would betray himself. The Editor said he trusted no one though. So if the Editor doesn't trust himself then what would he do to not have his own trust besides betray himself.
I think therefor I am.

Um... dude. That's not making any sense at all. YOU said the Editor would betray himself.

It's simple. There's only one being in the multiverses that the Editor would remotely trust, and that is himself. Now can we please move on to something else, please?

Fine. Then what mistakes did the Editor do in the war that turned the tide into his enemy's favor?
I think therefor I am.

None. The tide of the war swung in a single battle. Before the Overlords got summoned to the battlefield, they were winning.

The eyes narrow.

"ChroniclerC, you're almost right. It wasn't a single battle that decided the war, it was one single attack that decided the war. Everything hinged upon that one axe throw." His voice grew contemplative. "Though as to whether we were winning or not really is a matter of your point of view. We doing well, I admit, but there were missteps here and there we could have done better with. The forum wars, for example... if we had left them alone, the battle would have been far easier, just for one example. Not to mention the forumites WERE the only ones ever able to penetrate our home defenses."

A yawn is heard. "Now if you'll excuse me, I feel a nap calling me."

To be fair, there were other casualties in that battle that, had you not been felled, would have been major setbacks, if not fell blows themselves.

The shadows chuckled again.

"Perhaps, ChroniclerC, perhaps... I do not know, since I was rather... unavailable... after that axe incident. I have not yet gone back to find out exactly what happened after I was removed from the equation... a matter of pride, perhaps, but I simply do not want to know how everything turned out."

"I know we lost, and my main cadre are still locatable. That is enough for me to work on toward the future, whatever it may be."

Have you forgotten Mind Mistress? Or the mini-gnomes from Magical Misfits?

Hmm. Mind Mistress. Magical Misfits. MM and MM. Both did the seemingly impossible. Interesting...

Personally I think the Editor attacked too many people like Hitler before him. "History repeats itself."
I think therefor I am.

Godwin's Law states a comparison will be made at some point, not that it means anything. So who's the Fail now?

Fine then do you have a better historical figure to compare the editor to whom made the same mistakes. I for one don't because Alexander died before his empires collapse and Rome had too much territory.
I think therefor I am.

Just because it will happen eventually doesn't mean it should be any less avoided. You wouldn't go and commit suicide just because "we all die eventually", would you? (Yes, I prescribe to the pessimistic version of Godwin's Law.)

I really don't like to break the law. Also name a figure with the mistakes I am looking for!
I think therefor I am.

Your analogy is so far off I just don't know where to begin.

Cizar Wilhelm, maybe? Trouble is, Hitler is the most obvious figure for what you're looking for. However, I don't think the analogy applies to the Editor. He didn't attack beyond his reach. In fact, his preferred method of conquest was to aid factions within the target comic.

I will admit I don't know who Cizar Wilhelm is, but I still think the Editor made that mistake. Think about it, a huge army of characters that the Editor wronged came back for vengeance. The Editor dies and then his forces are defeated. I will consider the major mistake to be that the Editor didn't have a plan b or The Editor might have been micromanaging.
I think therefor I am.

Again, the Editor's forces were winning the final battle. If it wasn't for Eddy's accident, he would have won it.

And Cizar Wilhelm was the guy in charge of Germany when WW1 started.

I think you mean Kaiser Wilhelm II.
