Ask the Editor! (and Net, and Hogan, and Phil...)

Post by Net »

*the sands of time shift, and the shadows move slightly.*

*Burning eyes peer out at you from the depths, contempt and mild annoyance reflecting within*

Go ahead. Ask me what you will. I will answer to the best of my ability. Of course, you do realize that I might not answer your question directly, or even at all.

((Ie, for those that can't figure it out, the Editor will answer questions here in-character. :) ))

Ask me, or let me go back to sleep, darn you all...

Hogan has it. He was supposed to give it back to you, and don't let him tell you otherwise. If he denies it, he's just trying to keep it.

OK, here's a serious question. What did you do with Matt? The Wars are over, but still no sign of him. At least that I noticed.

Also, do you have any regrets now that the Crossover Wars have been Axed? (Sorry, couldn't resist. :P )

Matt is actually saved at the last page or two of Cameo Comic. Unfortunately, there's still no artist yet to draw that. :(

As for the wars being AXED... *glares*

*shines a flashlight into the shadows*

Just a handful of questions...
-- First, where'd you come up with the idea of invading other comic worlds?
-- Did you have to get permission from every comic you referenced, even if it was just on the screens?
-- What type of Naga are you? A traditional India-n type, a greenling/blueling cross, or a unique breed?

...

Oh, and can I keep this plushie one of my Imps made of you..?

1) Hogan actually had the original idea and pulled me in to help with the writing. It was at that time that the position of the main baddie hadn't been filled yet... and at that time, I was writing for... uh... *counts* Six or seven comics. It's been quipped time and again that I was trying to take over comics... the role of the Editor just seemed to fit.

2) Hogan tried, you'll have to get the final yay/nay from him on that one, but I do believe that 90% of them gave permission. If they participated at *ALL*, they gave us permission.

3) pretty much one of my own idea. I never liked the traditional, and to be honest... it kinda evolved into the current incarnation quite accidentally.

and yes, you can keep the plushie. Now turn out that light, I'm trying to sleep here.

A note on the above.

Yes, that's worded correctly. I was *NOT* the main writer. Hogan was. No matter how he tries to avoid it, he did the bulk of the writing on this.

*turns off the flashlight*

Hhmm, alright. Just one last question, eh? And then I'll let you sleep...
For now at least... I've had a whole bunch of questions I've been wanting to ask since my Imps got involved...

-- Did the "End" happen according to the ultimate plan/outline (you knew what was going to happen, it was just a matter of when), or did things start to move on their own once the Bunnies, Boardies, and the rest of the Swarm start getting more involved? (Semi-scripted vs. spontanious, I suppose)

have to defer to Hogan again for some of that, but for the most part, though the ultimate goal was in mind the entire time, a large portion of the plot was morphing as we went along. The forum wars, for example, grew into an integral part of the whole mess quite quickly.

Made it quite fun indeed. Most of it, anyway.

yep - The forum wars at least were a "just because we can" (though we couldn't always) thing that ended up occupying an entire arc

Ah, the Forum Wars. A testament to the Bunnies ability to overreact & Team Evils ability to make the most out of any situation.

I didn't describe that very well. Anyway, I have another question, if I may. How integral were the Squirrel Wars to The Crossover Wars? I know that they interacted a bit, but I wonder to what extent.

*walks in, rolling a keg in front of him. Stops at the sleeping naga and looks at the questions*

Well, all the main characters that were shown as more than standard background cameos and screen pictures, we had permission to use... and at least in one case we obtained the permission AFTER we used that character :P

Cameos shown on screens, as prisoners or in on the battlefield, we generally did not asked permission for (it would have taken ages to obtain them all) but used them under the Ruled of Tribute, considering them homage to the comics they came from. :)

As for the ending, then it had been imagined in its basic form all from the beginning, before the Wars even started, it was just a question about getting there. And as Net already noted, lots have been changed and added underway, the draft script for the Final Battle were a LOT different from what was played out.

*checks the last question and notes that the Naga is still sleeping*

Yes, the Forum Wars came to be out of the blue as the Bunnie's reaction to the Overlords's surveillance on EGS was a bait & hook we just couldn't ignore... :P
But that's another and longer story...

The Squirrel Wars was always meant to be more of a secondary storyline, but it was also planned to be a more integrated part of the Crossover Wars than it ended up being due to a whole lot of chaos and necessary lastminute changes behind the scenes... a part thats almost a story in itself.
Still, it was integrated in the way that the storylines helped carry Scale's Bracer into the Wars, as well as interacting with some of the other established storylines.

*rolls the kef out of the panel, towars the sound of merry laughter*

Doesn't look like it.

If you compare this and this you can see there being several meters of variation in Editor's length… is this simply artistic liberty or is he really capable of shrinking/groing? (Or is there any difference between those two anyway?)

I never figured out who was the DRACO power sorce? This was before the capture of Matt, so can't have been him?

CameoComic's beginning suggests plans beyond the Crossover Wars for the comic. Were those real, or just alluded? Is that comic officially over too?

Basically, artistic license at work there. In normal times, I'm between 8-9' long from snout to tail, typically about 5 1/2 feet tall when "standing" with the rest of the tail coiled for support.

Ah! That will be revealed in one of the missing CC-strips, but a few hints have been provided in the strips of another comics leading up to the missing one...

Well, I think the Wars have put a wrench in the original plans, but for what will happen now? Only the creators can tell, and they have to get over the Wars first...
