Hmm, this is tricksy to resolve. Why is there a flip on this? Can I see a source?

I'd suggest not basing it on Catnap - he's a special situation. Really, where's the source of this?

Why do you have color magic for artifact droids?

Last time I played Magic was in the 3rd edition rules era, and cards didn't flip (the flip side was the deck back). What are the rules for flipping cards?

(Oh: The images are gone. Were they just images of the text posted, or were they new cards?)
"So my Mom left me a huge heap of molding, rotten, decaying, puss-dripping zombies ... How cool is that?"

"So what is your advice to me?"
"Stop doing stupid crap."

Colored artifacts were released very recently. I thought they were screwy at first too.
Flipping a card actually doesn't turn it on its back, it turns it upsidedown, and there's different text there. Here, example.

Heh, and now that I'm looking at this thread again, it was pretty interesting. Hmmn. Although... honestly, the cards I designed there are... pretty bad. Wait, no, Catnap's pretty good. Also, the imaged cards are lost. They were, in fact, different.

Anyway, though... Revisions! Which are all just my thoughts, so y'know.

Corporal Max Catnap [3]
Legendary Creature - Anthro Cat
[T]: Counter target activated ability
[0]: Counter target activated ability if it targets [CARDNAME]
When there is a Anthro or Furry other than [CARDNAME] in play, flip [CARDNAME]
1/3

Flip:
Berserker Max Catnap
Legendary Creature - Anthro Cat
If there is no Anthro or Furry other than [CARDNAME] in play, flip [CARDNAME]
5/5
--------------
Amon Star, Bunny Sub-Commander [2][G][G]
Legendary Creature - Reader Shapeshifter
[2]: Regenerate [CARDNAME].
[G][G]: Until end of turn, [CARDNAME] gets +1/+1 and has trample.
[W]: [CARDNAME] gains vigilance until end of turn.
[R]: [CARDNAME] gains first strike until end of turn.
2/4
--------------
Inspector Sarah Millman [2][R][R]
Legendary Creature - Human Detective
[R],[T]: [CARDNAME] deals three damage to target creature.
1/3

...and some new ones for fun!

The Editor [2][G][G]
Planeswalker - Editor
[+1]: Target creature gains shadow until end of turn.
[-3]: Gain control of target noncreature artifact.
[-6]: Exile all nonartifact creatures. On each player's upkeep, they may return a creature card they own exiled this way to the battlefield.
\3/
---------------
Teal Ninja [2]
Legendary Artifact Creature - Shapeshifter
[1]: Exile target creature. If you do, [CARDNAME] becomes a copy of that creature until end of turn, and return that creature to the battlefield under its owner's control at end of turn.
0/1

GAH EVERYTHING'S LEGENDARY
But it has to be, because they're characters.

I like that Editor.

But if I understand plainswalkers correctly, that means he starts with 3 toughness, and will lose 6 if he "activates the Draco". That might make him a little weak.

Oh -- shouldn't it be all nonartifact creatures that you don't control? He didn't lose any of his people.

Maybe:
<2>: Exile all attacking creatures ...
"So my Mom left me a huge heap of molding, rotten, decaying, puss-dripping zombies ... How cool is that?"

"So what is your advice to me?"
"Stop doing stupid crap."

You understand correctly.
Technically, he DID lose his people - but because they all have bracers, they could return easily and quickly. Anyway, we do have to have SOME kind of balance.
Also, because of the timing restrictions on planeswalker abilities, exiling attacking creatures definitely wouldn't work.

Yeah, but he does need a buff. Here:

The Editor [2][G][G]
Planeswalker - Editor
[+1]: Target creature gains shadow until end of turn.
[-2]: Gain control of target noncreature artifact or enchantment.
[-6]: Exile all nonartifact creatures. During each player's upkeep, they may return a creature card they own exiled this way to the battlefield.
\5/
---------------------
Deception [1][G]
Legendary Creature - Elf Warrior
[2][R][R][R]: [CARDNAME] becomes a 5/5 Dragon with flying until end of turn.
1/2
---------------------
Zworgue [2]
Legendary Creature - Tingnie Mutant
[3][R]: [CARDNAME] gains first strike. (This effect doesn't end at end of turn)
[3][G]: [CARDNAME] gains trample.
[3][W]: [CARDNAME] gains vigilance.
[3]: [CARDNAME] gains lifelink.
3/3

So the Overlords seem to be spread among the colors. But that's okay, because the bulk of their forces are the colorless droids.
I'm not really sure I like them having banding, but I'm having trouble coming up with something similar flavor-wise.

Instead of banding, how about (and this sounds like a good addition to MTG anyways)

Grouping (When on defense, gain +1/+1 for each of your defending creatures with Grouping. When attacking, gain +1/+1 for each of your attacking creatures with Grouping).
"So my Mom left me a huge heap of molding, rotten, decaying, puss-dripping zombies ... How cool is that?"

That IS a good idea!
On second thought, though, it might be a little bit too powerful. Variant!

Grouping (When this creature attacks or blocks, choose any number of nonattacking, nonblocking creatures you control with grouping. Until end of turn, those creatures can't attack or block. For each of those creatures, this creature gets +1/+1 and gains the ability after the dash until end of turn.)

So, for example:
creature 1: 1/1 Flying, Grouping
creature 2: 2/2 Grouping - First strike
creature 3: 1/1 Grouping - Shadow

If you attacked with only creature 1, you could give it +2/+2, first strike, and shadow. If you attacked with creatures 1 and 2, you could give them each +1/+1 and shadow. Creature 3 doesn't have shadow, but it can give the other creatures shadow.

Still not sure I like the name grouping, but oh well.

So, the droids would be something like:

EOU Droid [2]
Artifact Creature - Droid
Grouping
1/1
--------------------
Super Droid [4]
Artifact Creature - Droid
Flying
Grouping - Trample
2/2
---------------------
Adult Droid [3]
Artifact Creature - Droid
Grouping - Lifelink
2/1
-------------------
Sparrow Droid [5][W]
Artifact Creature - Droid
Other creatures you control with grouping get +1/+1
Grouping - First strike
3/4
-------------------
Forma Droid [4][G]
Artifact Creature - Droid
Trample
Grouping - When this creature deals combat damage to a player, put a +1/+1 counter on it.
4/4
--------------------
Emissary Droid [3]
Artifact Creature - Droid
Shadow
Grouping - : Regenerate this creature
1/1

....this might actually be even more powerful. OH WELL.

That would mean that while the SuperDroid cannot trample, if he is co-ordinating the attack then all the other droids can. That's overpowered.

Maybe you get the ability after the dash if there's another grouping creature involved.

So, Grouping: For each non-attacking, non-defending creature with grouping, gain +1/+1. If there is at least one such creature, gain the ability after the dash.

I think Deception's Dragon Mode should have "[R] +1/+0" like a Shivan Dragon. Apart from that, good designs.

I was just about to post this going with that version of grouping, but I just thought of a better yet version.

Grouping - [ability] (Whenever this creature attacks or blocks, if another creature you control with grouping is attacking or blocking, it gets +1/+1 and [ability] until end of turn)

It's less exciting than previous versions, but more balanced.
So with that version in mind...

EOU Droid [2]
Artifact Creature - Droid
Grouping (No ability means it just gets the +1/+1)
1/1
--------------------
Super Droid [3]
Artifact Creature - Droid
Grouping - Flying
2/3
---------------------
Adult Droid [3]
Artifact Creature - Droid
Grouping - Lifelink
2/1
-------------------
Sparrow Droid [5][W]
Artifact Creature - Droid
Other creatures you control with grouping get +1/+1
Grouping - First strike
3/3
-------------------
Forma Droid [4][G][G]
Artifact Creature - Droid
When [CARDNAME] deals combat damage to a player, put a +1/+1 counter on it.
Grouping - Trample
4/4
--------------------
Emissary Droid [3]
Artifact Creature - Droid
Grouping - Shadow
1/1

And new ones:
Giant Droid [6]
Artifact Creature - Droid
Grouping
5/5

Okay, I'm tired.

Oh! Hmm, firebreating maybe. The cost to dragonify him might use up their red mana already though... Actually, come to think of it, that color-heavy of a cost would be hard to pull of in an Overlord deck. Maybe we should lessen it a bit.

Deception [1][G]
Legendary Creature - Elf Warrior
[2][R][R]: [CARDNAME] becomes a 5/5 Dragon with flying until end of turn.
1/2

Firebreathing... I dunno. It doesn't seem to make that much difference either way honestly. At this cost I would say it's too powerful, except that it elevates the cost. The main issue I have with that is that, if one were to play an Overlord deck, it would be hard to ever get any benefit from the firebreating. I dunno though.

How about making Deception a flip card, as he can stay in Dragon form indefinitely. Also, give him a way to turn back and his Elf form a power, so it's actually useful.

No inspiration is hitting me. Why don't you come up with something?

Anyway...

Jason Fellback [2][2/W][2/U]
Legendary Creature - Human Soldier
Shroud
Grouping - First Strike
4/4

Meh, that's all I got right now.

Okey-dokey, how's this?

Deception [2][G][G]
Legendary Creature - Elf Warrior
While [CARDNAME] is in play, all Red and Green creatures you summon cost [1] less to play.
[4][R][R]: Flip [CARDNAME].
1/2

And the other side

Deception
Legendary Creature - Dragon
Flying
[R]: [CARDNAME] gets +1/+0
[2][G][G]: Flip [CARDNAME]
6/6

Well the dragon side is fine, but the elf side seems rather... arbitrary. Why does Deception make green and red creature spells cheaper? Is it intended to be as in diplomacy? it seems like there should be a better way to present that, though I can't immediately think of them. Anyway, at that cost he should probably be a 1/3 if not a 1/4. Probably with that kind of effect, though, not over the bolting brink.

Also, I'm very tempted to make it so that, if it is a flip card, you can play it starting out either way up. [4][R][R] is a reasonable cost for that dragon (well, maybe it should be a 5/5 instead) without adding on an extra [2][G][G]. Plus that would just be kind of fun.

I'm reading through the EOU's archives, looking for something to go on that would be better than the cost reduction... Mostly his defining traits seem to be that he leads when the Editor's away, and that he's smart and takes initiative... none of which translate well to gameplay. Oh and general lechery, which doesn't work either.

Guh, I dunno. Time for sleeping.

Deception was the major recruiter among Fantasy Webcomics, hence the casting cost reduction. Unfortunately, there's no creature type "Fantasy Creature" in Magic, but most of them are Red or Green anyway.

I also agree with making him a 1/3.

Not sure about that. His first appearance was in his Elf form. As for the 6/6, he took on Squata.
