So, here we go. Or rather, there we went, since the chapter's already three pages old. This is going to be a bit different from the last three chapters, which were basically born out of me trying to be as random as possible. This chapter is a bit more plot-intensive and meaningful, not that anyone will notice (since apparently no matter how many hints I drop about anything, nobody gets it ¬_¬).
20/08/07: 'Arriving home once more'
How many chapters have started with the front of that damn house? Still, it was nice to draw it all blowed up for a change. I know the explosion pattern makes no sense, but does it really matter? I'm actually very happy with the first panel, since the destruction is clear and pretty complete. The last panel... well, I should have put some more work in, but I was short on time.
22/08/07: 'What? You didn't think I would draw something that wasn't really *there*, did you?'
Okay, I know that 'signposts' - those stupid little messages next to characters in manga which are something like the artist's commentary/mockery on what the character's doing or saying - are a bone of contention in webcomics and that I do occasionally stick them in. I find them quite amusing but I've seen them top several people's lists of 'stuff I'm sick of seeing in webcomics'. For those people, this is probably going to come across as a tedious attempt to justify my use of signposts in the comic, but that's not the idea.
The idea for the chapter came from wondering what would happen in exactly the situation shown. It's not quite breaking the fourth wall, just changing the hangings. As we shall see, I added some patented Drunken Scribblings taking-a-silly-idea-too-far powder to the mix, and a wacky and weird chapter has resulted. It's not going to be popular with everyone, but hopefully you'll bear with me until autumn when we return to more serious business.
A few notes on the police officer's speech in the background here; the scorpion pit line is stolen from Terry Prattchett, mostly just because I find it funny, but also because I'm getting a little bit worried about civil liberties (hence the rest of the speech, which is already more or less accurate about the state of civil liberties in Britain, and becoming more so at a frightening rate - not counting the bit about lawyers, which has been true but largely ignored for centuries ) in my home country. I'd like to stress that I wrote the speech as it appears on the page the day *before* going to see The Bourne Supremacy (it's very good), so this isn't some kind of paranoid knee-jerk, it's a genuine worry about the powers police already have in this kind of case (and, unfortunately, sometimes those powers are justified. I'm just glad I'm white, bespectacled, have unusually long and curly hair, and don't live near any Muslims - not because I'm afraid of them, but because I'm afraid of the way the police act towards folk because of their beliefs).

Wow, I haven't added anything to this thread in a while... and it's taken rather longer than it should have to get this far. Apologies for the delays and my inattentiveness between them!.
Anyway, on to today's page:
3/10/07: 'I wonder where we are this time'
Cookies for anyone (except Helen and Paul) who can actually tell what's going on already! Truly you are a dedicated and true fan of the comic.
For everyone else's benefit, I need to point you in the direction of Little Heart (you may have found the 20 pages of this comic which are available on the Drunken Scribblings website). Little Heart was my first idea for a comic, and pretty much the thing that turned me on to the idea of trying to learn to draw. After Prismatic Vodka had been going a few months, a friend of mine, Helen Skelton, agreed to be my artist for a new production of Little Heart. Had the comic survived, it would now be in approximately its third volume, but we were cursed (CURSED I SAY), and the project is currently on hiatus (though I hope to resurrect it soon).
It is in the third volume that the cloaked figure has this encounter with Mike. Since a very early planning stage of Prismatic Vodka (by which I mean, the first or second time I did a planning session on it, six months after the first strips >.>), the encounter was set to fall in this part of the story, and should I continue Little Heart, the encounter needs to be there. Bear with me.
Also, it's good to see Mike's human face again, no? (reference: here).
Keep your eyes open, you'll be seeing it a lot more from here on out...
Also, look out for other recurring designs and anomalies. It's rare that I stick something in for no reason at all...
(by the way, you may notice the scar that's mysteriously appeared on Mike's right flank; it should have been there all along - he was almost cut in half during the Starcups Saga, remember? - and I just kept forgetting it whenever he had his top off. Sorry!)

8/10/07, 'Remember This?' and 13/10/07, 'Message Arrives'.
At last, a further Zobbo crossover (I promise I'll get back to producing Zobbo just as soon as my life stops being crazybusy). I'm very curious (if anyone's reading this at all) to know whether this was what you expected as far as explaining the Zobbo storyline An Unfamiliar Voice, from way back in April.
Hopefully you won't notice any massive continuity errors between the two comics' accounts of the same events (Mike/Entropy's appearance is supposed to be different; it's a point of view thing).
Anyway, it was important to me that a tighter link between Mike and Zobbo be established. It'll become important to the rest of you at a later date, I promise! ^_--

18/10/07, 'It's all so familiar.. and yet, not.'
Wow, so much to talk about here.... don't forget to check out the competition!
Anyway, you might remember the ship in panels 1 and 2 of this comic from my participation in the crossover wars earlier this year. Had that not happened, this would have been the ship's first appearance as yet another part of our central mystery.
When I was planning volume 2, I set aside the second half of this chapter (which was actually supposed to be a lot earlier in the story; Squeak and Strong was, if I remember aright, supposed to be followed directly by Signs (possibly Davey Jones' Chopper, then Signs), which would then lead into the seemingly-nonstarting Halloween Cameo Caper plot I was going to do, before going into what became Misplaced) to stick in a bunch of cool stuff; there were going to be extended crossovers with Little Heart and Zobbo (both of which got compressed for time reasons), and a whole load of hints about Mike, which is what we have here.
Of the motifs on this page, three should be kinda familiar; you've seen the ship before. You've also seen a little of panels four and five.
I'm interested to know what people make of it so far; this page is a good collection of most of the clues, though there are a few scattered around the end of volume one which aren't here. People keep telling me that the story makes no sense or they don't know how to form guesses, so if anyone can prove them wrong I'd really appreciate it ^_--
From now until the end of volume 2, you can expect to find a lot more hints cropping up. Once this plot diversion is over, there's another chapter of bonkersness (though how bonkers it ends up being depends on how much I feel up to), and then we move into more serious territory, where we'll be staying for some time...
I'd appreciate it if people could keep guessing, because I really need more feedback to be able to properly balance my level of hint output...
