Help needed

Post by Mravac Kid »

I have no idea where to post this, so this seems like a fair enough place.
There's quite a lot of good artists hanging around Dragoneers lately, so I thought it would be a good idea to give it a try.

OK folks, I need your help.

We decided we'll publish a bulletin during our SF&F convention Liburnicon, and the idea is to have a comic on the back page.
Now, we could just use some already existing comic, but we would much rather have a completely new one. So, considering I'm into the whole comic scene and stuff, the guys asked me if I could arrange for a comic to put back there.

So I'm asking you: Would anyone be willing to draw a comic for us to put on the back page? It would be an A5 format, one half of an A4 page (I'm sorry, I have no idea how to say it in US measures. Half of letter format?). Layout and theme are not predetermined, as long as it's some kind of Sci-Fi or Fantasy gaming.
And it would have to be free, of course with full credits to the author (and probably a link to the author's gallery/webcomic).
The con will take place on July 20/21st, so you'd have time until say a few days earlier... so, 3 weeks deadline?
If anyone's interested, post here or contact me otherwise (my mail at mravac_kid(at)yahoo.com or through the Liburnicon website, where you can find all of our addresses under "Kontakt")
Please help me feel useful, as the others are doing pretty much everything else. :)

*EDIT* Hmm, the banner makes my sig too long. So here it is by itself. :)

Sounds interesting. Although I might be a little too busy, still consider me a Maybe.

According to Wikipedia A5 is 5.8" x 8.3" or 148 x 210 mm.

Since this is going to be printed I assume you'll want it at something like 300 dpi?

What language should it be in?

Any restrictions?

Thanks. I've got a few people offering so far, but the more the merrier. :)
If more than one person makes a comic, we'll print one of them and put them all on the website's gallery. And there's a possibility that we'll print more than one bulletin, so maybe we'll have two strips. But that's still in the theoretical phase.

Anyway, language should probably be English, as I'll be translating it to Croatian (so using puns wouldn't really work). As for restrictions... I don't really have any, but there might be minors seeing it, so I think a touch of restraint from the XXX stuff would be in order. :)

Kinda figured X-rated was out, still it's better to know where the lines are before working on something then after it's finished.

OK, the deadline is fast approaching... does anyone have a status update for me? We've got about a week to go, and everyone's panicking about everything... :)

Sure, no problem. And thanks.
I already got Caitlin's strip, but there's always room for more :)

Thanks for the submission!
Unfortunately there's only one page, and we had already used Caitlin's submission, so we can't use yours...

In any case, Liburnicon is over, it was very turbulent (you can read about it on my LiveJournal), and I'd like to thank everyone who responded to my cry for help. You people are great.
