Smile for the camera... (Finished version and Badge inside!)
If you've read some of my posts in other threads, you might already know that I'm thinking of showing the "fate" of Shelterville in the last Division/bell strip of the crossover... since Alex and Gray aren't actually sticking around for the celebration, the strip for the 31st will likely end with a view of an abandoned ghost town in the present day. In one of the buildings, there will be a photograph; it will show all of the folks at the party smiling and having a good time before going back to their respective homes.
What I'll need from y'all to help me pull this off is a sketch if possible of what your characters will be wearing at the party itself... this may be the same as their regular Shelterville dress, or it might be a special costume that they decide to don for the occasion. Whatever it is, I'd like to see it so that I can get to work on the photo (it will be done in sepia browntones, to make it look more like photos of the era.)
Once I've got the photo done, then I'll be posting it here for anyone's use; maybe it could be some sort of a "I participated in the Halloween Cameo Caper 2006!" award/gift type of thing. As a potential plot point, someone could even feature the picture being taken (or at least the suggestion that they need to have one) in one of the strips that takes place during the party.
Oh, and one other thing... Hogan, you will be in the picture. After all, this is your party; it wouldn't do to not have the host in there somewhere. *smiles*
So everyone, pick out your wardrobes and post pictures/links here! (This can also serve as a useful reference to others, so they'll know what your characters will be wearing. Please make a note if they're going to have other clothes on for the main Shelterville story.)

Re: Smile for the camera...
I think this is a great idea giving everyone something to remember this event by!
Hehehe... that would be great! I would probably be the disgruntled owner of the saloon with the bowler, placed out to the left or the picture, leaning on the axe he usually keeps beneath the counter, tired from trying to keep order in the chaos his saloon has been through during the partyfeyd wrote:Oh, and one other thing... Steve and Bobby's costumes are as shown here.. but feel free to shift Steve into dark greys for the photo if you want... black's not really the best colour to use in sepia tones

I'll probably stick with the outfits in this picture, but not the fake horns on Sten's head (Sten's the orange guy).
Thank you Kam
I needed that Picture. I'm trying to start drawing this. It's sooo much harder when you don't know who looks like what. If you like once I'm done with my "Opener" sketches I can forward them to you to see if'n that works with yours. As for Tink How will Brian be dressed and will he be carrying your Glock or will he carry a traditional period weapon. I have a tickeling of an idea for the daughter of the great tinkerer (Star) coming up with an idea for Pops. The story line in MM is working up to a point where I can incorparate the adventure into my storyline. I intend to take one of the elf/indian ghosts home with the kids Female. A kind of imaginary/real friend for them as well as an ace in the hole. it also gives me a 4/4 ratio female to male with the kids! I like the symetry. Eventually I will make her Jenna's apprentice! Ohhhh so many story lines so little time! Thanks Hogan!
I'm hopefully going to have the picture mostly done sometime this week... been busy with work lately (I wrote 30+ articles this weekend alone), and I still need to hook my scanner up as well. I also didn't notice that I'd been logged out of the forum (my cookies were eaten by my antivirus, I think), so for the past several days I didn't realize that anyone had been posting in the forums here. Oops...

Hey there!
Sorry I don't have any sketches ready to post just yet, but if you want to get things started I've got pretty close. You see both Fox and Rai decide that it would be safer to forgo costumes, and will be there in simple party dress. Fox will be wearing his standard (for "going out" clothes) loose collared shirt as seen here:
http://heyfox.comicgenesis.com/d/20060913.html
and Rai will be wearing a simple dark turtle neck. (shirt that is, no actual turtles will be harmed in the creation of his wardrobe.)
I'll post a couple of sketches as soon as I've got them, but that should be enough to get the idea, methinks.

Work in Progress picture!
Ok, since I've got my scanner hooked up to my computer again I've decided to go ahead and let everyone see how the "group photo" is looking. Bear in mind that it's currently just a sketch; everything's still drawn in non-photo blue, and because of this some of the parts of the picture don't show up that well. I do, however, have most of the characters that have been linked to in this thread in the picture (somewhere), and I've still got several more to fit in. After that point, I'll be adding in a few other characters that haven't been posted here but have been referenced elsewhere in this forum.
The final version of this picture will be posted in this thread sometime either this weekend or next week; that way the people who are going to use it in-strip will still have time to work with it, and those who just want it as a fancy thing to have on your site will be able to get it for that purpose. (I'll probably have a "badge" version made up for that purpose, with "Halloween Cameo Caper 2006" or something like that on it, so that people who don't want to re-size the main pic will still have something to display.)
I forget... is anyone actually going to reference the picture being taken in-strip, or is it pretty much assumed that it'll be taken at some point during the festivities without being explicitly mentioned?

The possibilities of that picture is... stunning!

K'. Here's another WIP sample... this one is pretty close to the final version. It doesn't have every character from every comic, but there are 23 or 24 characters in the picture that represent 9 or 10 comics (plus Hogan.) Considering how much I hate drawing details and crowds, I'd say that was pretty impressive. *laughs*
There are probably one or two more things that I'm going to add to this, but for the most part this is the design that I'm going to start inking from. I've also been working on a 10-or-11-panel Division/bell, to start setting things up for when D/b actually starts into the crossover on Wednesday... There should be 1 more comic between the one I'm working on and the first Shelterville strip, so I'm pretty much right on track to get caught up to that point. I should also have this inked, scanned, and made up similar to the maps I did sometime soon... as well as a smaller version for "I participated" stuffs.

Ok, here's the moment that a lot of folks have almost been waiting for... the finished picture, uncolored and unaged.
Sometime later today (after I color and post the 25th episode of Division/bell, which begins the lead-in to the crossover) I'll begin doing the PhotoShop work on this picture in order to get it finished. As mentioned above, I'm sorry that I couldn't fit in every character from all of the strips... I did the best I could, and that's a lot of characters to figure out how to draw together in a picture. I could have added a few more in, I suppose, but since it will need to be shrunk down even more (at least for my purposes) I didn't want to get it too crowded.
(And in case anyone wonders... the blue part is only there because I scanned it as a color photo. The version that I'm going to be using for the photograph will be scanned as a black-and-white document, so none of the blue will show up. I just figured that since the last two pictures I've posted were in color, I'd do this one that way too so as to show the progression that the picture made.)

Here it is! The finished version of the Shelterville group photo!
I thought about adding shadows and other effects to it, but decided that I'd leave it like it was... weird how even though the picture was taken in the 1800's, a certain trunk still managed to come through in color, though. *winks*
By the way! Shelterville participants can have the smaller version that I'd promised now as well... check it out!
Now then... off to finish up today's Division/bell, so that I can start on tomorrow's... so that some folks can get their travel plans rearranged! *laughs*
