Converging Plotlines, et. al. (Spoilers and Setups Abound!)
It's getting near late August, so I'm thinking that the folks who are involved in the crossover that are going to have it fit in with the rest of their comic should start planning ahead and making the connections to make this work. To start the ball rolling, here's how Alex and Gray are going to be getting to the party and such. Anyone else is free to add suggestions for interactions they'd like to see or do, and of course to post your own ideas for what you might do with your comic so as to get others involved and make a really great crossover (as opposed to just a bunch of cameos in a single strip. Unless that's what you want to do, in which case it's fine I s'pose.)
Ok, as soon as I get done moving to my new house and get Division/bell back on track, I'm going to start the storyline that leads to Shelterville. Basically, when travelling via the interdimensional portal to Gray's homeworld the trip is "interrupted" and the travellers are scattered. Alex and Gray end up in Shelterville, one or two characters wind up in the far future, and there may be one or two that end up somewhere else as well. There'll be D/b strips that touch on all 3 groups, with the crossover obviously happening in the Shelterville strips.
Alex and Gray are trying to fix what went wrong and trying to find their friends, all the while getting caught up in the happenings of the party. So of course there's all of the drama and plot going on, all while having the party in the background at the same time. (This also accounts for the fact that in-comic, it won't be anywhere near October. Isn't it just like time travel to drop you off in the middle of a Halloween party when it was still January when you left?)

Great idea Feyd!
I would be great if we could get the storylines of as many participating comics as possible to converge into a true crossover at the point of the party!
It may not be possible for everyone, far from since many probably have their established storylines running, and only have time for a quick filler detour... but lets see how many can join in with this!
I'm stickying this...

The Kids' route to the Party
I'm not sure where the MM story line will be in October so I may be doing an "out of sequence" story line. Hopefully my readers will be able to parse it out. My plan is for the kids to use one of the Library portals to go to the main library. Only problem is they use the portal in the ancient comic art section. Which is screwed up. They will then end up at the Party. It would help if the Party goers had an objective of some sort like finding Kam's trunk for example. If not I will think of one for the gang. Suggestions would be much appreciated as I try to work out what they do while at the Party and what they do to get back!
Character Sheet
I was wondering if we should supply charater sheets and if so where to post them etc. So other folk can draw our characters!

Re: Character Sheet
Supplying character sheets or links to cast-pages would be great, giving people a sporting chance to see what to draw of the others artist's cast!Wheels wrote:I was wondering if we should supply charater sheets and if so where to post them etc. So other folk can draw our characters!
If you have the files or pictures for the sheets already stored somewhere online, just give a link to them in your RVSP-thread and people can go there and check them out.
If you lack a place to store the files for linking, drop me a line and I'll see what I can do!

Hey.
Today I worked out how my storyline connects.
I'm sending the character of Kori. The plot connects in the following way: Kori just got his brand new (used) motorcycle. I will reply later with the proper make and model, for anyone who cares. He startes out in hoboken NJ, but he kind of loses himself on the highway in his excitement driving it for the first time, and he ends up... In Shelterville.
I'd love to interact with as many of you as possible, so if you can think of a way to include Kori in your strips, please pm me or reply.
I am also eager to use as many of your characters as possible in my strip as well, but I would prefer to crossover with comics who are featuring kori in their strips as well, in order to give fans a sense of continuity. It would be great if they had to read 3 or 4 strips to get the whole story.
I would really like it if there were some goal Kori could help accomplish, something from someone else's comic story line. Does anyone need an extra member on their team for the shelterville story quest? Maybe even something about how to escape shelterville would be ideal, but I am open to all possibilities.
For the record, I *am* tying this into my main continuity, but in a way that I'm not limiting my creative potential. So furry strips, time travel strips, space alien strips, any and all artists interested in crossing over please contact me and we can talk about a joint storyline.
Kori can participate in anything, the only key thing to remember is that he arrived in town on his new motorcycle.
Looking forward to hearing from people.

Now that Dia's ancestor will be part of this event, her future self (in the current comic) will start recounting the stories she's heard of that woman.

Well, Alex and Gray are going to be trying to get out of Shelterville and find their friends... and if Kori's on a motorcycle, that'd probably help Alex to notice that he was from modern times and therefore more likely to be "trusted" than some of the old-west folks. Gray wouldn't know what a motorcycle is, since he's an elf from another dimension... but that's beside the point.Darian wrote: I would really like it if there were some goal Kori could help accomplish, something from someone else's comic story line. I'm also thinking that the thing Gray uses to open the portals is lost/stolen upon reaching Shelterville, so if you're interested then Kori could help with the finding of it.

Okay... I have a proposition for a plot idea.
Several people have come up with malfunctioning portals as the way they get into shelterville... Both magic and technological. Now Kori gets disoriented on the roads on his new bike (possibly by a portal, who knows), and everyone from all different times and worlds end up in Shelterville. on Oct 31, 1883. The question is, Why?
Clearly something in shelterville has attracted these portals from accross time. And *I* think it has something to do with the digging going on in the graveyard. What do you guys think? Maybe investigating that is how we solve the entire shelterville situation and get everyone back home..
Sincerely,
Darian

Sounds intriguing. Mayhaps this "something" is also the reason that Gray no longer has the thing that opens the portals. Perhaps there's something sinister going on behind the scenes of this supposedly-innocent party...
(Well, I get the feeling it would be sinister in a Scooby Doo sort of way... but sinister nonetheless.)

I've got this idea in my head now... a very sexy bounty hunter enters Shelterville in order to find an outlaw hidden there. Either the characters involved in this crossover will be in the background going on with their own stories, or they in their own way will help or hinder this sexy bounty hunter's progress. Keep in mind that this is an adult comic so weird things could happen (but not to the crossover characters)

Okay, here's what happens in the Drunken Scribblings as far as to and from Shelterville goes (lolz omg ph34r my 1-month-ahead spoilarz ^_--);
Tinkerbell needs to get to Mars to recover her stolen spaceship. Mike, who is trying to rebuild the team after events at the end of chapter 4 create... tensions... insists that he and Brian go along. Mysterious Cloak Guy teleports them to Mars... except that, in the long-standing Drunken Scribblings tradition, something goes wrong and Mike, Brian and Tink all end up in Shelterville. Without Mysterious Cloak Guy, the only person who can teleport them back.
Shelterville stuff happens, then they are mysteriously zapped back again and end up *inside* KAM's trunk, which is currently in a shipping yard or warehouse on Mars.
What happens in between I don't really mind. I'm trying to get as many cameos into my three pages (all to be released on the 31st) as I can, but the idea of finding out *why* they got sucked to Shelterville would be cool. And yes, digging in the graveyard would be good. If not terribly eerie...
Also, does anyone want to volunteer a character to be Brian's soulmate? (for plot reasons, it does have to be a girl, but that's a spoiler for the very distant future and I can't reveal it here). My thinking is having Brian and said girl be on the verge of making important promises to each other when MCG finally manages to recover them. I know it's a cliche, but it's exactly the sort of thing that happens all the time to Brian (poor kid). If anyone's interested, anyway? It'd have to be a fairly open-minded girl, given that Brian's currently effectively a large (albino) black bear, and she'd have to be fairly tolerant because he's an omega dork. He is lovable, though...

Soulmate as in True Love or Soulmate as in Brian thinks it's true love?Tinkerbell wrote:Also, does anyone want to volunteer a character to be Brian's soulmate? Being an alien the appearance wouldn't be a problem for Emsi, but love really isn't in her, although she can fake it if she thinks there is power or wealth in it.
At the moment I'm just planning SailorSun.org characters, Bay and Honey to appear at the party (in westren style outfits), and be awstruck by all the well know webcomic actors that are there and maybe interacting with a few of them. If anyone wants to incorperate Bay and/or Honey into a storyline let me know so I can adjust my comics accodingly. (I'll probably do a Oct 25th to Oct 31 Special).
I would volenter Honey for the role. She's pretty opened minded and kind. Though she is smart and might not want to rush into 'important promises" or classifying the relationship in any kind of Love way in such a short time. She does consider people her friends and very good friends easly though. I don't know if this would help ya. So let me know.Tinkerbell wrote:Okay, here's what happens in the Drunken Also, does anyone want to volunteer a character to be Brian's soulmate? Woah... wasn't expecting so many offers (the Brian in me is quite flattered :p ). I haven't actually read the comics in question yet, so I'll get back to you guys when I have (hopefully this week or next, as I realise time is short). But my idea was to do an actual, genuine true love story. Of course, that would require a number of future crossovers, so if people don't want to commit to something like that then I'll tone down my mad ambition...
And KAM? *fwap* the trunk can't be in Shelterville! It's gotta be *on Mars* in time for the DS cast to land in it on November 1st!
Well, unless it can randomly travel through time... which I suppose is a given anyway... 'cuz of the whole 1883 thing.... *feels stupid*
