Webcomic Mirror Site List
This is the place to bring awareness to mirror sites for your favorite webcomics so that...
1. People know where to find the comic should the main site go down for any length of time (I'm looking at you DD!!), and
2. So that we are able to add a link to the site as a "Note" under the appropiate entry in the Archive.
"Main Site" will preferely be the one featured in the Archive as the main comic link.

Re: Webcomic Mirror Site List
Just to show that I'm actually still working on the Archive and that the above mentioned note on alternate sites IS an option, I've updated teh entry for Joff's Life & Death with his alternat address... just in case DD goes down Again... as it seems to be at the time of writing...
Let me hear your thoughts on how to present this in the best possible way, and DO let me know of alternate links to add to other profiles, it only takes a moment for me to add, and it will help making the Archive a site to reckon with should main sites go done for any reason and/or length of time...

Re: Webcomic Mirror Site List
Well, the mirror site(s) should probably be at the top, probably below the header link for the main site, since I don't think too many people will want to scroll down to the bottom in case the main link isn't working.
Actually when you suggested mirror links my first thought was listing the alternate cameo links as well, sort of like...
"College Roomies From Hell!!! - A souleating flashback brings forth the Dave Easterbunny Fanart again! 15-12-2004 - Mirror site"

Well, fortunately not every entry had the length of your's and Joffio, meaning it being under Notes will be easily noticed, but I see the pointKAMics wrote:Well, the mirror site(s) should probably be at the top, probably below the header link for the main site, since I don't think too many people will want to scroll down to the bottom in case the main link isn't working.
However, I think adding it directly under the header looks, to me, a bit out of place...?
I've done both on Joff's site now (sorry, but you are the designated guninea pig in this!), any thoughts/comments to either suggestion?
I... think that would taking the entire thing with the Archive one step too far... and probably a step right off a towering cliff...KAMics wrote: Actually when you suggested mirror links my first thought was listing the alternate cameo links as well, sort of like...

Re: Webcomic Mirror Site List
Okay, it was suggested that I kept the link on top of the Notes for short entries, then supplemented with the top link for those looooooong entries where you never get to the bottom
I think that's how it will be, so Life & Death will be the first entry with links to mirror-site(s) and others will be added as I go along.
So, feel free to post alternate links to, in the Archive, existing comics in this thread!
... that will ensure I get to add them faster

Thanks for the contributions KAM!
All have now been implemented in the Archive!
... it didn't actually take that long, and if it helps a few people seeking out a comic when the main host is down, then its worth doing!

... still adding mirror sites to the entries in the Archive when I come across some... both for readers who can then choose the platform they prefer, but also in case a comic suddenly disappears from one site...

Re: Webcomic Mirror Site List
Given the ownership of Smack Jeeves changed hands and a lot of people with comics there left (most went to Comic Fury) some sites and mirror sites might need to be changed.

Re: Webcomic Mirror Site List
Yeah, tell me about it, I'm still working slowly getting all the links to individuel Smackjeeves-hosted strips fixed after they changed everything... far to the worse
I'll be removing any sites which has been shut down completely as I come across them, I tend to work on the Archive more frequently these days

Re: Webcomic Mirror Site List
You can delete the alternate site for The KAMics.
I was banned... Soviet style.
No communication, no word that there were any problems with any of my comics, and I was only told I was banned... a week after it happened.

Re: Webcomic Mirror Site List
Oh, it's downright dispicable.
I've been a moderater at a discussion board since the turn of the century. There are certain standards I'm expected to uphold when dealing with posters who post things that go over the line and none of that was done in this situation.
They don't want my comic on their site? Fine, but the way they went about it was terrible. They should have, at least, talked to me and let me know that some of my comics might be a problem, but no. No transparency, no honesty, just hide in the dark and ban secretly. Not an honest site in my opinion.
I just wish all the comics I read over there had mirror sites I could visit and completely avoid going to that place.

Re: Webcomic Mirror Site List
It sounds strange, by all means you should have gotten a warning or at least a note on what you have done wrong? I mean... the comic is not THAT bad!?
I've never heard of sites being removed without warning, so it COULD be a mistake... but how, when or why?
At least the original site is still standing, but this sucks...
