Broken links / dead comics

Post by Keybounce »

Some of the links on the central hub no longer work.

* Anything going to drunkdunk is a fail -- the old URL's no longer work.
* Too Many Authors
* CTC vs EOU
* Keenfans
* Wotchers

Hmm... all DD links seems to be working from my side... have you found some I've overlooked from back when DD LAST TIME changed filenames? :-|

I haven't heard about the rest going dead though, I'll take a look at them as soon as I can, and if the online version of the comics and strips are gone for good, I'll switch to the internal storage link (as I have all the files from the Wars stored safely aside for just a situation like this...).

I saw a bunch still going to drunkduck.com/something, and none of those will work.

Scifi wars, section 8, all of the CTC links are dead.

... actually, part 6, all of the Too Many Author links are also dead.

More dead comic links.

Everything at http://fesworks.xepher.net or psiwebcomic is gone.
That's all of PSI, all of Jenny Everywhere, etc.

That's a LARGE part of the story.

*sigh* time has not been gentle to the memory of the Wars of 2007...

I'll better put some serious time aside one of these days and switch all the linking for the gone-for-good comics over to internal copies of the strips...

And the restoration has begone! :knight:

At currently all links up to and including May 2007 (I go forth cronological) should be uptodate, and those that used to point to sites now lost to us (R.I.P) now links directly point to the on the site internally stored strips.

The remaining links should be updated on the other side of Christmas Eve...

... the update really doesn't help on the functionality of the site and the readability of the storylines, but at least we'll still have a site linking to all strips from the bygone Wars of the past should any dare to peruse this piece of webcomic history :rose:

... and now all the dead links should finally have been fixed and the Wars can, with some effort and a lot of clicking, be read in their entire uncontrollable wicked continuity again! :cheers:

You know, if I had the time and skills, it should be possible to string the whole Archive into a series of chapters you could read in a row just by opening and using the arrow keys to navigate the strips... though that would probably require all strips to be linked inside the Archive, which beats the idea of people visiting the original sites, those that still exists, to read the strips... :eyebrow:

Well, for now at least all strips are readable from the Hub again, and it was nice getting to reread a lot of the shenanigans from back then... still impressed how much of a mess we made and how many funny episodes that came into being.... :D

:2cheers:
